This is a Full-Time position (consistently requiring 36 on site hours per week, Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM) for an experienced probate and trust and estate administration and estate planning paralegal. Your role is to support the firm’s sole attorney in drafting, proofreading, and preparing legal documents for client execution and court filing or delivery.

About Us: DGVE law® is an established, boutique estate planning, probate and estate administration, and small business law firm located in downtown Hingham, Massachusetts on Boston’s South Shore. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional client service and high-quality legal services while developing lifelong relationships with our client family and their families. We are a small, tight-knit team that enjoys working together in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere while maintaining exacting standards professionally. We take our work very seriously but laugh often at ourselves. DGVE law values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer. Unfortunately, our antique office space in historic Hingham Square is not accessible; you must be able to climb stairs easily.

About You: You are a tried and true paralegal with a proven track record of supporting your lawyers in the areas of probate and trust administration and estate planning in Massachusetts especially. Experience drafting MA deed documents a plus. You have very strong organizational and outstanding time management skills. You can easily “triage” to prioritize and adjust to the inevitable urgencies and changes inherent in this line of work. You can juggle multiple projects with accuracy and precise attention to detail, shifting gears at a fast pace and under hard deadlines, without requiring direction to do so. You can carry projects through from start to completion with minimal supervision but are comfortable asking questions to clarify or for help as needed.

You are a computer savvy tech-enthusiastic adept at learning new software programs and a Mac-user who is also well-versed in the Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and AdobePro. Experience with certain law firm specific software programs a plus. You have experience conducting basic legal research and writing summary memos.

You are a consummate professional who likes to have fun while you work even while doing more routine tasks. You are punctual and dependable with a positive attitude and a professional demeanor. You value personal responsibility and self-reliance, dislike gossip, whining, and complaining, and emit positive energy. You want to be part of a team, enjoy healthy debate, and share ideas as well as you listen to them. You enjoy enjoying helping people and look for opportunities to do so. You respect privacy and believe in the value of the peace of mind we provide for all our clients with whom you are at ease interacting directly. You are able to explain complex and emotionally-charged concepts in an easy to understand and comforting way.

You are driven and work efficiently independently, but you are also happy to become an integral member of our team. You accept responsibility and welcome accountability, deriving a sense of pride and accomplishment in your own work and viewing challenges as opportunities. You are a critical thinker who asks the right questions, proofreads cautiously, anticipates potential risks, and catches mistakes before they fall. You like grammar. You look for efficiencies and suggest improvements, respond well to constructive feedback delivered respectfully, and adjust and adapt to change readily with enthusiasm. You appreciate how the entrepreneurial attorney routinely innovates and strives for excellence in all areas and you are ready to grow with the firm into its next level.

College degree or paralegal certification from an ABA-approved paralegal program preferred. Minimum 3 years full time experience working in a professional office setting, preferably a small or mid-sized law firm, required. Law students and attorneys will not be considered for this position. Competitive compensation commensurate with that of other similarly-situated small firms and based on your experience and demonstrated skills; hourly wages between $20 and $30 per hour (or $42,000-$62,400 per year) before calculating payroll taxes, paid time off, and benefits. Following a 90-day introductory period, you will be eligible for paid holidays, personal time off, and participation in the firm’s 401K plan, continuing opportunities for ongoing education and professional growth, and possibility of merit-based bonuses. Free parking, a bright and comfortable office space, casual Mondays and business casual attire Tuesday through Thursday during our regular 4 day work-week (with 3 day weekends every week), and excellent team camaraderie within a respectful and appreciative firm culture doing meaningful work that genuinely helps people with what matters most.

Please submit a resume and a cover letter, including your compensation and benefits requirements, via this posting. Due to the already increased time constraints and burdens on the firm, we respectfully ask that you do not apply via alternate methods or call or email the office directly to inquire as to the receipt or status of your application.
